Implementation <br />• Current funded sworn police positions - 328 <br />• Actual sworn police staffing - 304 <br />• MAPP Modeling indicates an additional 44 sworn officers needed <br />to adequately staff patrol <br />• The annual attrition rate for sworn personnel due to retirements is <br />approximately 17 per calendar year <br />• This rate is projected to decline due to new employees being hired <br />• To achieve the goals identified in the modeling and keep pace <br />with attrition to reach not only the currently funded sworn <br />number, but to increase total sworn positions by 44, the Police <br />Department would need to hire 153 officers over five years <br />• This would equate to approximately 3o new hires annually <br />• Newly awarded COPS funding will partially fund the hiring of 10 <br />new officers <br />
