Also address integrity) <br />The Bemis House is associated with Laurence W. and Gladys Bemis as the first owners and occupants. Mr. Bemis born in 1896 in <br />Minnestoa, and was proprietor of the Tractor and Implement Company located originally at 1629 East First Street. The Bemis' <br />were avid golfers and as members of the Santa Ana Country Club, both won golfing championships in the 1930's. They had one <br />son, Laurence Jr. The LW. Bemis Company is still in operations at 930 East First as a saw sharpening and waste oil recycling <br />business. Mr. Bemis died in 1984, and is buried at Fairhaven Cemetery.
