Under this contract the <br />Information Services Division (ISD) has begun replacing desktop computers in areas identified <br />throughout the organization where upgrading technology will increase efficiencies and enhance <br />daily operations of staff. Given the limited resources allocated for replacement, the Santa Ana <br />Police Department has developed a replacement schedule that accelerates the replacement of <br />their equipment to ensure staff has equipment that optimizes productivity and increases <br />efficiencies within the department. <br />Moreover, the Department of Justice's, Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) has <br />mandated that law enforcement agencies follow strict guidelines in protecting, transmitting and <br />storing Criminal Justice Information (CJI). A large portion of the Police Department's machines <br />are over five years old and run on an operating system that does not support the security patches <br />as required by CJIS. This plan addresses that concern by increasing the replacement schedule <br />the first year to ensure the machines that run the software are in compliance with the federal <br />statute.
