REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JANUARY 20, 2015 <br />TITLE: <br />CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 2014 -09 <br />TO ALLOW A 47 -FOOT TALL WIRELESS <br />FACILITY FOR SPRINT PCs AT 1241 <br />SOUTH GRAND AVENUE CROWN <br />CASTLE, APPLICANT (STRATEGIC PLAN <br />NOS. 3,2; 3, 5) <br />CITY MANAGEFO <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />UT f 01 <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1� Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on Od Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Receive and file the staff report approving Conditional Use Permit No. 2014 -09 as conditioned. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION <br />On December 8, 2014, the Planning Commission adopted a resolution approving modifications to <br />Conditional Use Permit No. 2014 -09 as conditioned by a vote of 6:0:1 (Alderete abstained) to <br />allow a 47 -foot high wireless facility screened as a monopole for Sprint PCs at 1241 South Grand <br />Avenue located in the Light Industrial (M1) zoning district. The Planning Commission modified <br />Condition No. 10 to require submittal of a landscape plan prior to issuance of a building permit <br />that was in compliance with the City's industrial standards (Exhibit A). <br />DISCUSSION <br />Sprint PCs is proposing to modify an existing, unstealthed monopole by upgrading existing <br />antenna and related ancillary equipment. The project will add new service antenna panels to the <br />monopole and enhance ancillary equipment within the existing enclosure, while removing existing <br />service antenna panels. No changes to the monopole structure are proposed as part of this <br />project, and the facility will maintain the existing maximum height of 47 feet. The monopole and <br />enclosure are proposed to remain in their current location, near the center of the overall site, near <br />existing high - voltage transmission lines that assist with the stealthing of the facility. Full sized <br />site plans are available for public viewing in the Clerk of the Council Office, <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal No. 3 Economic Development, <br />Objective No. 2 (create new opportunities for business /job growth and encourage private <br />development through new General Plan and Zoning Ordinance policies), as well as Objective No. <br />5 (leverage private investment that results in tax base expansion and job creation citywide). <br />31 B -1 <br />
