Establishments that sell alcoholic beverages require a <br />conditional use permit (CUP) pursuant to Section 41 -196 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code (SAMC). <br />Project Location and Site Description <br />Blackmarket Bakery will be a new restaurant that will be operating within a ground floor tenant space <br />in the historic Santora Building, which was originally constructed in 1928 and placed on the Santa Ana <br />Register of Historical Properties in 2001 as a Landmark structure. The Santora Building is located <br />on the northeast corner of Broadway and Second Street. The site is approximately 0.37 acres in size <br />and contains a variety of retail, service and restaurant uses within 47,133 square feet of building area. <br />Blackmarket Bakery is proposed to occupy a 2,293 square foot vacant tenant space. The site is <br />surrounded by a mixture of retail, service, and office uses to the east, west, north and south; and <br />multi - family residential to the southwest (Exhibits 1, 2 and 3). <br />Project Description <br />Blackmarket Bakery is requesting approval of a Type 41 ABC license to allow the on- premise sale of <br />beer and wine as part of the eating establishment's operations. The proposed eating establishment <br />will hold approximately 10 seats within its dining room. The on- premise sale of alcoholic beverages <br />to customers is intended to provide a service ancillary to the primary use. The proposed hours of <br />operation are from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. <br />Friday and Saturday, and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. <br />EXHIBIT A <br />31 D -3 <br />
