NO. 15 -003) <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 6, 1) <br />�iss�l'z. -Q5 <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />UV21=01wel <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 18'Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2ntlReading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to Grainger, Inc. for the purchase of maintenance, repairs and operations <br />supplies in an annual amount not to exceed $80,000, for a three -year period, with two one -year <br />renewal options exercisable by the City Manager, subject to non - substantive changes approved <br />by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />City departments require a variety of different tools and miscellaneous supplies such as saws, <br />hammers, screwdrivers, shovels, rakes and hoes in order to perform general maintenance <br />throughout the City. These types of items are purchased through the Central Stores for <br />distribution to the various end -user departments. Contracts for landscaping and hand tools are <br />designed to provide city staff with quality products at competitive pricing resulting in significant <br />savings based on quantity economy -of -scale pricing. In addition, the City also establishes <br />blanket order contracts for miscellaneous items not available from the Central Stores. <br />Santa Ana Ordinance No. NS -2312 authorizes the City to purchase against contracts from any <br />public agency utilizing a competitive bid process. The National Intergovernmental Purchasing <br />Alliance awarded a contract to Grainger, Inc. for maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) <br />parts, supplies and equipment, including tools and miscellaneous supplies, as a result of open <br />competitive bidding, and meets the City's requirements. <br />22A -1 <br />
