NO. 14 -092) <br />(NON - GENERAL FUND) <br />(STRATEGIC PLA NO. 6, 1 C & F) <br />CITY MANA ER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />I -a;• _o <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1 "Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2n'Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to Dominguez General Engineering, Inc., for sewer repair services for a three -year <br />period expiring on February 28, 2018, in an annual amount not to exceed $500,000, with provisions <br />for one two -year renewal exercisable by the City Manager and City Attorney, subject to <br />nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency Water Resources Division operates a sanitary sewer collection system <br />comprised of a network of approximately 390 miles of sewer mains, 2 sewer lift stations, 48,500 <br />sewer laterals, and 8,000 sewer manholes. Through ongoing video inspections, the Water <br />Resources Division evaluates the structural integrity and the overall condition of the sanitary sewer <br />collection system. Sanitary sewer assets with moderate to severe structural defects are placed on a <br />priority list for repair. Approval of the recommended action will provide for repairs to the sewer <br />system assets on an as- needed basis. The repairs will prevent structural failure, sewer system <br />overflows, and costly emergency repairs, while extending the life of existing sanitary sewer system <br />infrastructure for a fraction of the cost of replacement. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on December 30, 2014, on the City's online bid management <br />and publication system. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as follows: <br />16 Vendors notified <br />2 Bids received <br />Bids were received, opened on January 22, 2015, and evaluated.
