Some months during the year we anticipate higher usage than other months, for example during the summer to keep our grass from drying out because of the hot temperatures. Now, we are being informed that our water and sewer rate charges are going to increase and continue to increase with additional added fines /fees due to usage over the set limit. We are protesting these changes for future bills. Our family is a four (4) member unit with basic usage, in our opinion. We use the water to wash dishes, cook, wash clothes, take showers, and water our grass. We do not wash our cars nor do we hose down our drive way or sidewalks (we use a blower or sweep these areas). Our bills used to be on average for two (2) months approximately $150, now over the last several years our bill has increased to about $300 and some months $400. With more increases we are afraid our bill will be above and beyond what we can pay and we would hate to incur late fees or have our service cut, which would be dreadful. We have taught our daughters simple methods to keep their usage to a minimum such as turning the water off during teeth brushing, combining loads of laundry, and turning off the water during showers while they shave their legs or wash their hair. We even purchased a new dishwasher (in 2014) and washer (in 2010) to ensure we are doing everything in our power to keep our water usage to a bare minimum.
