J. The goals of Safe Mobility Santa Ana are to substantially increase safe <br />mobility in all areas of the City, to achieve zero fatal bike /pedestrian collisions, reduce <br />vehicle speeds, and minimize demonstrated collision patterns. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 2. The City of Santa Ana accepts the Department of Transportation's <br />Mayors Challenge "Safer People, Safer Streets: Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety <br />Initiative." <br />Section 3. The City will work with other agencies with transportation jurisdiction <br />within the City boundaries and adjoining agencies to evaluate the principles of Safer <br />People, Safer Streets. <br />Section 4. The City encourages all residents and parents to ensure that people <br />learn defensive walking, bike riding in traffic, including wearing a helmet and the <br />dangers of using any electronic device or headphone when walking or bike riding. <br />Section 5. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the <br />City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting <br />this Resolution. <br />ADOPTED this 171h day of February, 201: <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br />Sonia R.
