REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />MARCH 3, 2016 <br />TITLE: <br />CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 2014 -56 TO <br />ALLOW A TYPE 47 ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE <br />CONTROL LICENSE FOR WOKCANO ASIAN <br />RESTAURANT AND LOUNGE TO BE LOCATED <br />AT 2800 NORTH MAIN STREET, UNIT 2140 <br />GREGG BERWIN, APPLICANT (STRATEGIC <br />PLAN NO. 3,2) <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />© As Recommended <br />© As Amended <br />El Ordinance on 161 Reading <br />0 Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />Q Implementing Resolution <br />M Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Receive and file the staff report approving Conditional Use Permit No. 2014 -56. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION <br />On February 9, 2015, the Planning Commission adopted a resolution approving Conditional Use <br />Permit No. 2014 -56 by a vote of 7:0 which approved a Type 47 Alcoholic Beverage Control <br />license in order to sell beer, wine and distilled spirits for on- premise consumption at Wokcano <br />Asian Restaurant and Lounge located at 2800 North Main Street, Unit 2140 in the General <br />Commercial (C2) zoning district. The Planning Commission made no changes to the <br />recommended conditions of approval outlined in the attached staff report (Exhibit A). <br />DISCUSSION <br />Wokcano is requesting approval of a Type 47 Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) license to allow <br />the on- premise consumption of beer; wine, and distilled spirits as part of the restaurants <br />operations. The restaurant will be operated as a full- service, sit -down eating establishment with <br />an outdoor patio area. The dining area will have approximately 200 seats, of which 160 will be <br />located inside and 40 outside. The restaurant will contain all necessary equipment to be <br />considered for a Type 47 ABC license. The on- premise sale of alcoholic beverages to customers <br />is intended to provide a service ancillary to the primary use. The proposed hours of operation for <br />the facility are from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m., seven days per week.
