The measurement locations are illustrated in Figure <br />13. <br />The measurement sites were selected as being representative of the <br />noise sensitive receptors nearest to the roadway and therefore most <br />likely to be affected by the proposed project All of the measurement <br />sites are classified as activity areas where exterior design noise levels of <br />67 dBA (Leq) apply, <br />The measurement sites include a high school track /field, a community <br />college auditorium, two elementary school playgrounds, two multi- <br />family attached dwellings and seven single - family residences. Sites 1 <br />through 12 lie adjacent to Bristol Street, whereas Site 13 is one lot <br />removed and therefore a second Line receptor. All measurements were <br />located with respect to the existing right -of -way. <br />Single - family residences at Sites 1, 5, and 6 Have front yards facing with <br />direct driveway access onto Bristol Street. Both multi- family residential <br />sites (3 and 7) and single -family sites 8, 9, 12, and 13 take access from <br />side streets and have front yards facing away from Bristol Street. <br />Traffic on Bristol Street was free flowing during all measurements with <br />the exception of sites adjacent to major intersections where vehicle <br />delay was significant Measurement 7 is considerably affected by this <br />situation due to its proximity to the intersection and location adjacent <br />to the southbound approach lane. Also note that mid -block noise levels <br />are significantly greater than levels closer to the intersections since <br />higher travel speeds are prevalent and noise generated from vehicles is <br />highly speed dependent. <br />Table 8 provides the ambient noise measurements at each site in .. <br />decibels on the A- weighted scale, using the Leq noise descriptor. It <br />also includes comments on the type of adjacent land use. <br />Ten minute noise level recordings were used to represent the maximum <br />noise level for a typical weekday evening peak hour period. Traffic <br />counts were made during the noise measurements and the maximum <br />Leq values shown in Table 8 include adjustments to reflect the peak <br />hour traffic conditions. <br />11MU <br />w <br />75C -89 <br />
