LatinoldealthAccess.org
it: Wellness District and Latino Downtown
development that meets the needs of underserved communities
and individuals through projects, programs, and policies that are inclusive in their planning and
implementation, and that reduce disparities while fostering places that are healthy, vibrant, and diverse.
We believe in the right of these communities to remain and thrive in Santa Ana and be safe from the
unintended consequences of development that raise property values making the cost of living unaffordable,
or that change the surrounding environment to where they no longer belong.
We believe in the need to reclaim our streets for safe, accessible, active transportation, including walking
and biking, and that Complete Streets infrastructure will not displace Latino cultural businesses or Latino
residents. We believe in the right of underserved communities to have access to healthy local food, and
food production.
We believe in the need for a partnership amongst local business, community organizations and residents,
where we create a culturally relevant, community serving, accessible and affordable downtown that does
not displace but is inclusive of its Latino identity and people.
We support the recent findings of the Wellness District Market Study report, conducted by The Next
Practice, that describes a Latino Revival Scenario market strategy for the downtown, stating that the
greatest demand in the downtown is for wellness goods and se vices and that the largest purchasing power
is in the Latino resident of the surrounding central Santa Ana neighborhoods.
We support the proposed Wellness District Resolution and believe the following:
• A Wellness District in the downtown will uplift Santa Ana as a destination for food, health,
culture, and a family experience
• Affordable, culturally relevant events and community friendly locations will bring Santa Ana
residents, commuters and visitors downtown
• "Calle Cuatro" memorializes and affirms Latino history and present
• Community - run microfarms will replace vacant lots to provide affordable, local, healthy food for
residents and restaurants
Economic development downtown and citywide will include everyone
• Through Wellness We Thrive Together
Name/Organization ' ,Ayic4a- B r;4 ci4 o L—JoacA-ca_ i-yatC N SS
Address:j 7 4t/ s E-iti)f V City, Zip: ckY%
Email Address: YyY'C l~i tz ae(cil7zCCeSs .G p
[-one: Vu-5q Z'RV (Text: Yes or No)
❑ I live in Santa Ana ❑ I'm a student in Santa Ana
I work in Santa Ana Q I shop in Santa Ana ❑ I worship in Santa Ana
(Place of worship)
(school)
Building Healthy
Communities
