CITY MANAGER'S COMMENTS <br />City Manager Cavazos: <br />• Announced upcoming Budget Hearings scheduled for April 23rd and <br />28th encouraged all to participate. <br />• Summer Youth Fair to be held on April 25th <br />• Cinco de Mayo Festival to be held first weekend in May. <br />90B. CITY COLINCILMEMBER COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Amezcua: <br />• Thanked Payan Group for providing free community workouts and <br />encouraged all to attend. <br />Councilmember Reyna: <br />• Announced that California Governor Jerry Brown has imposed water <br />mandates; need to be water wise and further reduce consumption; <br />• Reported that Relay for Life exceeded fundraising goal; kudos to team <br />captains for raising funds and awareness; challenged all to participate <br />next year; <br />• Youth Conference scheduled for coming weekend at Santa Ana Boys <br />and Girls Club; <br />• Encouraged all to shop in Santa Ana; and <br />• Recognized hard work and dedication of assistants and in celebration <br />of Administrative Professionals Day. <br />Councilmember Benavides: <br />• Requested update on Centennial Education Center, youth skate park <br />system; and opportunities to expand youth programs; <br />• Invited all to attend Cinco de Mayo celebrations and Art Walk the first <br />weekend in May; and <br />• Asked all to support local economy and businesses. <br />Councilmember Tinajero: <br />• Attended McFadden Intermediate's 50th Anniversary celebration; was <br />designated Principal for a Day; <br />• Joined the Relay for Life event; and <br />• Noted that Santa Ana School District has built up infrastructure along <br />with the City; evident change and improvements throughout the City <br />that have enhanced our youth's sport experience. <br />Mayor Pro Tern Sarmiento: <br />• Thanked staff and commended all involved in success of Relay for Life <br />event; <br />• Recognized efforts to bring balanced budget and ability to fund <br />improvements such as Pacific Electric Park and South Main Street; <br />need to consider expanding branding efforts to other areas of the City; <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 19 APRIL 21, 2015 <br />1 0A -19 <br />
