Authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement in the <br />amount of $30,000 with Illumination Foundation for the term of July 1, 2015 through June 30, <br />2016, subject to non - substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />2. Authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement in the <br />amount of $50,000 with Goodwill Industries for the term of July 1, 2015 through June 30, <br />2016, subject to non - substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />At its regular meeting of April 21, 2015, City Council directed the City Manager to explore <br />alternate funding for two non - profit organizations that applied for Community Development Block <br />Grant (CDBG) funding, but were not recommended by the Community Redevelopment and <br />Housing Commission. Additional general funding for public service programs was identified and <br />$80,000 is available to fund these two additional organizations. <br />Illumination Foundation will be funded at $30,000 to provide crisis prevention and intervention <br />curriculum to give Santa Ana's most at -risk youth a more promising future and create <br />generational change. Goodwill Industries will be funded at $50,000 for a workforce development <br />program to assist Santa Ana residents with the skills to secure employment. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's effort to meet Goal #2 Youth, Education, Recreation, <br />Objective #2 (Focus resources on quality youth engagement, enrichment and education <br />programs through community center, libraries and after - school programs during out -of- school <br />hour), and Objective #4 (Partner with groups and organizations to promote education, senior <br />services, job training and development for all Santa Ana residents). <br />25E -1 <br />
