City of Santa Ana Public Works Agency J ADVANCED METERING INFRASTRUCTURE FEASIBILITY STUDY <br />for the City. Black & Veatch's approach to the development of an AMI Feasibility Study for the City <br />will leverage the significant experience that we have in performing similar work and our deep <br />knowledge of industry best practices. <br />Our proposed approach is comprised of the following seven tasks: <br />1. Project Planning and Kickoff <br />2. Information Gathering and Analysis <br />3. AMI Opportunity Assessment <br />4. Technical Infrastructure and Architecture <br />S. Business Case Development <br />6. Project Design and Implementation <br />7. Final Report and Presentation <br />Task 1: Project Initiation and Kickoff <br />This first task includes refining the project schedule, scope of services and deliverables, as well as <br />identifying the internal City staff and resources that will participate in the various project activities, <br />the timing and scope of their involvement and how to best engage them. It also identifies the existing <br />documentation on the City's systems, business processes and IT architecture, resource management <br />and costs that are necessary to perform the required scope of work. <br />Deliverables: <br />® Project Plan, defined scope of services, and specific objectives <br />List of requested documentation to be collected or reviewed <br />Task Z: Information Gathering and Analysis <br />This task involves identifying the broad range of information that Black & Veatch would like to obtain <br />to support the work. This task includes the review of the requested information, discussions with City <br />staff and the identification of what is actually available. We will obtain the information for the City <br />and perform a preliminary analysis to identify gaps or missing information that will require further <br />investigation or result in the need to make assumptions based on industry experience. The types of <br />information or documents that may be requested include the following: <br />41 AMI /enterprise vision, goals and objectives <br />D= Strategic business plans and summaries of strategic City initiatives <br />Prior AMI analysis and business process models, if applicable <br />Organizational chart and overview of departmental responsibilities, including staff associated with <br />meter reading and billing functions <br />Cost information for meter, operational and customer service work processes that will be defined <br />and that will be impacted by AMI <br />�'i Enterprise application architecture designs /diagrams <br />Planned capital projects <br />Current meter equipment (quantities specifying type, volume throughput, size, and age) and any <br />available cost information <br />Leak detection information including previous investigation and plans <br />Field automation plans <br />Data management process and requirements <br />System and customer water usage information <br />BLACK & VEATCH IA.
