e) Irrigation -All Turf <br />(1) Contractor shall ensure irrigation schedules are continually monitored to <br />provide adequate moisture in the soil for healthy turf, and avoid excess wet <br />conditions. The Contractor shall visually check all sites each morning and <br />physically check each sites systems monthly indicating in writing the: 1) site <br />name; 2) the controllers manufacturer, model and serial number; 3) controller <br />letter /number; 4) run days; 5) start times; 6) station run times; 7) water budget <br />percentage; 8) weekly Et; 9) deficiencies noticed; and, schedule to cure /repair <br />deficiencies. <br />(2) Contractor shall not schedule irrigation of casual turf or sports fields that <br />would impact programs /events or at least 24 hours prior to the mowing process. <br />During cooler periods of the year avoid irrigating 48 hours prior to the mow <br />procedures to ensure a quality cut of the turf. <br />(3) Under normal conditions the contractor shall not schedule irrigation on Friday <br />and Saturday nights to avoid wet conditions during weekend usage. Prior <br />approval will be required to irrigate during weekends to coordinate with <br />reservations. <br />(4) Turf areas shall be watered as required by weather conditions to provide <br />adequate moisture for optimum growth. At no time shall turf areas show a lack of <br />green color or a loss of resilience due to lack of water, unless approved or <br />directed by the Director's Representative for water conservation purposes). If <br />Contractor estimates additional water above and beyond the monthly Estimated <br />Applied Water (EAW) may be needed, he /she shall request approval from the <br />Director's Representative prior to exceeding the monthly irrigation budget as <br />detailed in the Monthly Water Conservation Report Estimated Applied Water <br />(EAW) requirements. Failure to get approval from Park Services prior to <br />exceeding the monthly irrigation budget will result in the Contractor paying for the <br />excess water. <br />(5) When an irrigation system does not adequately provide water to the turf area <br />in which it is installed, due to any reason including but not limited to controller <br />failure, valve failure, broken heads, poor system design, etc., the Contractor shall <br />direct their CITA's to immediately provide supplemental irrigation at no extra cost <br />to the City. The Contractor may use any reasonable means necessary to <br />uniformly irrigate turf areas. Contractor may also submit AEWs with engineered <br />drawings to improve these areas of the system. Failure to maintain turf in a green <br />and healthy condition will result in deductions from the monthly invoice. <br />(6) Automatic irrigation shall be conducted between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and <br />4:00 a.m. and shall be programmed not to exceed the EAW. In the event that <br />Contractors water consumption exceeds the EAW City may deduct said <br />overages from the Contractor's monthly invoice. <br />(7) Contractor shall ensure that all Certified Irrigation Technicians (CIT) and <br />Certified Irrigation Technician Assistant (CITA) working on irrigation possess the <br />following credentials (see Section 2 Workforce): <br />Certified Irrigation Technician <br />a. Fullerton College Associate in Science Ornamental Horticulture or Landscape <br />Management. Or Certificate of Proficiency in Landscape Irrigation Program <br />totaling over 30 units <br />Page 12 <br />
