REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTIONa <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />JUNE 17, 2014 <br />TITLE APPROVED <br />AGREEMENTS WITH POWERLUX <br />CORPORATION, CALIFORNIA <br />PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING, AND <br />SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON FOR <br />LED STREETLIGHT IMPROVEMENTS <br />� :4 4=z MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on I" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2ntl Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the following agreements, <br />subject to nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney: <br />a) Amend the Agreement with Powerlux Corporation to provide an additional 231 LED Post <br />Top streetlights for an amount not to exceed $78,506. <br />b) Execute an agreement with California Professional Engineering, Inc., to rewire existing <br />high - voltage streetlight system and install LED post top fixtures for an amount not to <br />exceed $512,450. <br />c) Execute an agreement with Southern California Edison to provide funding through on -bill <br />financing for the LED streetlights. <br />2. Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing up to $230,000 in funding from .Southern <br />California Edison into the SCE Energy Efficient Street Lighting revenue account, and <br />appropriating the same amount to SCE Energy Efficient Street Lighting expenditure account for <br />the installation of LED streetlights. <br />To advance the City's energy efficiency goals, a program was implemented to replace all City - <br />owned streetlights with energy - saving light - emitting diode (LED) lamps. In August 2011, City <br />Council approved a pilot program that installed 253 LED streetlights on Main Street and Edinger <br />Avenue. In January 2012, City Council awarded a follow -up project that replaced 1,123 lamps at <br />signalized intersections citywide. Funding for these projects was supplemented through the <br />Southern California Edison (SCE) On -Bill Financing (OBF) Program.
