J ^:• a <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 19' Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager, and the Clerk of the Council to execute a subgrant agreement <br />with Community Action Partnership of Orange County, subject to nonsubstantive changes by <br />the City Manager and City Attorney, to implement the Orange County Partnership to Improve <br />Community Health project, for the one -year period ending September 29, 2015, in an amount <br />of $145,000 with provisions for two additional one -year options contingent on adequate <br />funding from the Centers for Disease Control exercisable by the City Manager and the City <br />Attorney, utilizing project grant funding as awarded. <br />2. Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing $145,000 in Partnership to Improve <br />Community Health grant funds into the Emergency and Health Fund revenue account and <br />appropriating the same in the expenditure account. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a Notice of Availability for its <br />Partnerships to Improve Community Health (PICH) initiative. The cities of Santa Ana, Garden <br />Grove, and Anaheim submitted as partners to the Orange County application led by the <br />Community Action Partnership of Orange County. The goal of the program is to address the <br />leading risk factors for the major causes of death and disability in the United States including poor <br />nutrition and physical inactivity. <br />The City will be focused for year one on increasing pedestrian walkability in the downtown <br />corridor through the installation of waste receptacles, tree guards, benches, bike racks, and <br />intersection enhancements aimed at promoting the walking and biking experience for patrons of <br />the downtown. <br />20A -1 <br />
