WELLNESS DISTRICT COMMUNITY PROPOSAL {STRATEGIC PLAN <br />NO. 5) - City Manager's Office <br />The following members of the community commented on the proposal: <br />• Sam Romero, supports renaming 4th Street as Calle Cuatro. <br />• Tony Gatica, outlined request and supports proposal as submitted. <br />• Jessenya Reyes, supports all elements of the Proposal. <br />• Jose Rea, thanked City Council for South Main Street Corridor <br />approval and projects underway; supports District proposal. <br />• Graciela Medina, expressed support for proposal. <br />• Madeleine Spencer, noted that SACReD added social inclusion <br />provision amongst other things that are important to members; <br />supports Proposal. <br />• Philip Escobedo, opined that staff report proposal was fair; does not <br />support rent control; City Council needs to be responsible stewards <br />Council Discussion ensued. <br />Councilmember Benavides, supports item #1 include Calle Cuatro on 4th <br />Street signs; supports concept of mercadito and micro - farms; policy to <br />support community events and need to include economic development <br />community advisory committee consideration at next Council meeting. <br />Councilmember Tinajero, agreed that Wellness important for whole City — <br />holistic approach and not rebrand certain district; support micro -farm <br />concept in correlation to obesity and low income; issue with mercadito, <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 18 MAY 19, 2015 <br />1 0A -18 <br />
