REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JULY 7, 2015 <br />TITLE: <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10 OF <br />THE SPECIAL EVENT REIMBURSEMENT <br />AND SPONSORSHIP SECTION TO <br />INCLUDE CO- SPONSORSHIPS <br />{STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 5, 4} <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1a' Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Adopt an ordinance amending Chapter 10 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code related to Special <br />event reimbursement and sponsorships to include language that includes co- sponsorships of <br />special events produced by neighborhood associations and other approved entities. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On June 2, 2015, City Council directed staff to amend appropriate ordinances, develop a <br />resolution and implement a policy that supports an annual funding of $10,000 to each Council <br />member to support special events and programs produced by neighborhood associations and <br />other approved entities. <br />Adopting this ordinance amendment supports these efforts and would allow for co- sponsoring of <br />special events through resolutions adopted by City Council. Staff intends to present City Council <br />with the resolution and guidelines on August 4tn <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />The activities covered by this report support the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 Community Health, <br />Livability, Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #4 (support neighborhood vitality and livability). <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br />Exhibit: Ordinance <br />50A -1 <br />
