1 <br />VA will prepare improvement plans including structural calculations for approximately 800 linear <br />feet of proposed privacy wall with10' to 16' in exposed height on City of Santa Ana title block. If <br />necessary, VA will coordinate with the landscape architect for any required special architectural <br />design details. Discussed below is a description of each task of the proposed VA work plan: <br />1- Kick -Off Meeting _and Data Collection ` <br />VA will schedule and attend a Kick -Off Meeting with City Staff to initiate the Project; establish lines <br />of communication; establish design guidelines; discuss Project parameters and constraints. This <br />task provides for the collection and review of information from the City including relevant Project <br />geotechnical investigations for the area and as -built plans for existing wet and dry utilities in <br />relation to the proposed improvements. The acquired information will be used to establish the <br />horizontal and vertical layout of the wall and to avoid utility conflicts. <br />2- Field Survey and Mapping <br />The survey will include the development of a topographic map with 1 -foot contour intervals and will <br />identify significant planimetric features such as utilities, trees, setback from homes, private and <br />public street improvements. VA will compile City Right -of -Way and easement information and <br />establish horizontal and vertical control at the Project site in order to maintain the proposed privacy <br />wall improvement plans within City right -of -way. <br />IN 3- Geotechnical and Structural Analysis of Privacy Wall <br />VA will perform the structural analysis of the freestanding reinforced concrete block wall based on <br />the geotechnical recommendations and civil layout. The footing configuration will be tailored to site <br />' conditions with provisions for descending or level slopes and possible retention to maximize <br />constructability and minimize installation cost. These configurations may include reinforced <br />concrete spread footings, trench footings, or grade beam on caissons. The Structural analysis will <br />be performed using standard structural design procedures for external stability and overall <br />structural integrity. VA will use load resistance factor design methods to determine slab thickness <br />and reinforcement for the reinforced concrete and masonry construction, Applied loads will include <br />self weight, earth pressure, adjacent traffic surcharge and controlling seismic or wind loads. <br />Design and construction criteria will be in accordance with the latest editions of the California <br />Building Code, FHWA Bridge Design Specifications, and ACI 318. If there is no retention required, <br />Caltrans Standard Plans 815 -1 thru B15 -6 for soundwalls can also be utilized for the Project. <br />4- Prepare Plans Specifications and Cost Estimates (PS &E) <br />The privacy wall plan set will include a title sheet with general notes, material specifications, and <br />design data, two detail sheets with construction notes, quantities, architectural details, and wall <br />structural details, and two (2) wall plan and profile view sheets at a scale of T" =20'. The plans will <br />identify wall horizontal locations, pilaster locations, with top of privacy wall and top of footing <br />elevations on profiles as necessary. VA will submit the wall improvement plans and supporting <br />structural calculations to the City for review and approval. Project specifications and bid <br />documents will be prepared for each item of work included in the project based on City supplied <br />"boilerplate" based on the latest edition of the Standard Specifications for Public Works <br />Construction (Greenbook). Quantities and an engineer's opinion of probable construction cost will <br />be prepared for all the contract bid items with back -up quantities and unit costs. The project <br />specifications and cost estimate will be submitted in both hardcopyand electronic formats. <br />■I 5- Prepare Record Drawings (As- Builts <br />�i VA will prepare "as- built" plans based upon redlines provided by the City inspectors and the <br />contractor.
