Services Provided: The IMPACT Model- Summer Program provides youth with important summertime <br />enrichment and learning opportunities to prevent summer learning loss. Each day during the summer months, <br />between 50 -100 youth aged 6 to 18 come to our Main Club and five Santa Ana school sites: Manuel Esqueda, <br />James Lowell, and Santiago Elementary Schools; Mendez Fundamental Middle School; and Sierra Intermediate <br />School. There, they divide into groups of no more than 20 by age and spend at least one hour in each of three areas <br />of activities: Academic Instruction & Homework Assistance, Fitness & Social Recreation, and Academic Enrichment <br />Opportunities. Some examples of our summer academic, fitness, and enrichment activities include: Power Hour: <br />Daily homework help and grade- appropriate tutoring; Summer Brain Gain: New curriculum will help maintain and <br />improve learning over the critical summer months; Early Literacy Intervention: Literacy related activities for k -3rd <br />graders includes a curriculum that teaches reading comprehension, vocabulary, and creative writing and inspires <br />life -long readers; College Bound: Provides targeted mentoring to help youth develop a customized plan for college <br />and set career goals; STEM Initiative: Hands -on projects and field trips to museums and STEM businesses; SMART <br />Moves (Skills Mastery and Resistance Training): Prevention /education program promotes abstinence from <br />substance abuse and adolescent sexual involvement through the practice of responsible behavior. <br />Frequency of Service Delivery: Our Club is open for extended 12 hours days from 7am -7pm Monday- Friday during <br />the summer. <br />C. How services are provided: One -on -one and classroom setting <br />D. Target Population: Santa Ana is a densely populated city, and over 25,000 youth live within one square mile of <br />our Club. 65% of Club member families fall below the Federal Poverty Level. The rest of our membership falls in the <br />income level slightly above the FPL, but are still considered low- income.
