VOZI
Bova & UINLfl rwn
OFSAWAANA
May 13, 2015
Mary Hawkes,
Director of Community Engagement
Pacific Symphony
3631 S. Harbor Blvd., Suite 100
Santa Ana, CA 92704 -8908
Dear Mary:
We are writing to confirm our enthusiastic support for your grant application to the City of Santa Ana's
"Investing in the Artist" funding opportunity, requesting support of our Santa Ana Strings partnership
program. Santa Ana Strings has been a wonderful addition to the programs and services that the Boys &
Girls Club of Santa Ana provides, especially for our elementary school -aged children. We are very proud
of our collaborative efforts which have allowed us to offer neighborhood children an opportunity to
experience high - quality violin instruction and meaningful interaction and personalized coaching from
Pacific Symphony musicians.
We believe that the arts, and in particular music, can offer tremendous benefits for our children.
Research supports that students who participate in the arts gain substantial growth in their academic
achievement, as well as receive better grades, have fewer absences and increase the skills that will help
them attain their goals in school and in life.
Please be assured of our support for your grant request and for the Santa Ana Strings instrumental
music program. We thank you for your efforts in providing music education to the children who are
members of The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana and look forward to our continuing partnership in Santa
Ana Strings.
Sincerely,
Robert Santana
CEO
Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana
1714) 543 -5540
rsa nta na P 2gysa ndgi rlsclu b.com
