Need:: <br />$10000 <br />I am applying for:: <br />Equipment, Materials & Supply,Other <br />If other please state below. <br />Some of the funds will be utilized for: <br />Community Workshops <br />(Muralism 101, Sketching, Painting and Kids Arts and Crafts) <br />Artist Development <br />(Museum Field Trips, Mural sightseeing field trips and books) <br />Modest Artist Stipends <br />(Gas, Food, Time) <br />Artist Statement: <br />The Coalition is a grassroots collaborative effort which came together in June of 2013 <br />specifically for the purpose of creating community- based, community- driven mural arts <br />projects in the City of Santa Ana. <br />As Downtown Santa Ana continues to undergo a number of important transformations, <br />it's essential that local residents, organizations, and businesses take a role in the <br />process and express their voices about the future of their city. The Coalition has had <br />meetings with several community groups to discuss the mural vision, and the resultant <br />conversations have opened up a sincere and meaningful dialog in the community. This <br />is something which we've welcomed and actively engaged in, because we believe this <br />kind of dialog represents a significant step in the direction of respect, open - mindedness, <br />understanding, and ultimately cooperation. <br />The Coalitions first Community Mural Project was completed in November of 2013 over <br />25 local artists contributed to the mural and over 300 community members where part of <br />the survey, design and implementation process. <br />The mission of the Santa Ana Community Artist(a) Coalition is to connect local artists to <br />their communities in a collaborative process to create art that transforms public spaces, <br />generates civic engagement, and promotes personal and social change. <br />Narrative for proposed use of funds:: <br />For Investing in the Artist Grant the Coalition proposes to facilitate a new Community <br />Mural Project in Downtown Santa Ana the mural is created through a community <br />process that, at the specific site, engages Santa Ana residents, youth, business, and <br />artists at all stages of the mural process — from idea to paint — resulting in truly <br />collaborative and place -based art- making. <br />Our Community Engagement Model supports and invests in the community as artists <br />and artists as community catalysts and leaders. <br />
