RESOLUTION NO. 2015 -059 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA TO AMEND THE CURRENT ANNUAL BUDGET <br />TO ADD FIVE FULL TIME POSITIONS IN THE POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1: The City Council hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. On July 7, 2015, the City Council passed and adopted Ordinance No. <br />NS -2878, establishing the City's Budget and authorizing position <br />allocations for Fiscal Year 2015 -2016, and requiring that alterations in the <br />allocation of authorized positions be reviewed and approved by the City <br />Council. <br />B. On March 18, 2014, the City Council adopted the 5 -year Santa Ana <br />Strategic Plan. This plan established specific goals, objectives and <br />strategies to guide the City's major efforts during the next five years. <br />C. In keeping with the Santa Ana Strategic Plan goal of Community Safety, <br />objective of modernizing the Community Policing Philosophy to improve <br />customer service, crime prevention and traffic /pedestrian /bicycle safety, <br />and the strategy of partnering with downtown business and merchant <br />associations to enhance security measures and provide a safe <br />environment (e.g., additional downtown Police Officers, body -worn camera <br />program, additional security and police efforts, video surveillance, etc.), <br />the Police Chief proposes adding five (5) full time positions in the Police <br />Department budget. <br />D. It is now desired to amend the Adopted Budget for Fiscal Year 2015 -2016, <br />as amended, to effect these changes. <br />Section 2: That Ordinance No. NS -2878, the Annual Budget for Fiscal Year <br />2015 -2016, shall be further amended by adding four (4) full time Police Officer positions <br />and one (1) full time Police Sergeant position in the Police Department, at the monthly <br />five -step salary rate ranges as indicated: <br />5 -Step Salary Rate Range Effective 07/01/13 <br />Number of Monthly Salary <br />Classification Title Positions Added SRR Minimum - Maximum <br />Police Officer 4 690 $6050 - $7355 <br />Police Sergeant 1 733 $7463 - $9073 <br />Resolution No. 2015 -059 <br />Pagel of 2 <br />
