REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />DECEMBER 1, 2015 <br />TITLE: <br />AWARD CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION <br />OF MORRISON PARK PARKING LOT <br />IMPROVEMENTS (PROJECT NO. 15 -6456) <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 6,, 1B) <br />CITY MANAGE <br />1:7xrii7� IT, I:-ul [a]4r7e[r3 <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2"tl Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to Roadway Engineering & Contracting Inc., the lowest responsible bidder, <br />in accordance with the bid in the amount of $171,306.00 for the construction of the Morrison <br />Park Low Impact Development parking lot improvements, subject to nonsubstantive changes <br />approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />2. Approve the Project Cost Analysis for a total estimated project delivery cost of $248,393.80. <br />3. Authorize the City Manager to execute change orders in an amount not to exceed the total <br />authorized contingency of $51,391.80. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The recommended actions support the City's efforts to improve the Morrison Park parking lot <br />pavement by installing absorbent pavers, and incorporating a bioretention system that includes <br />drought - tolerant landscaping. in addition to the pervious pavers and the drought - tolerant <br />landscaping, the entire parking lot will be reconstructed to include new asphalt pavement, parking <br />lot striping, and other ADA enhancements. Once completed, these improvements will be <br />aesthetically pleasing and will reduce the amount of water run -off that enters the storm drain <br />system. <br />A Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on September 28 and 29, 2015, and bids were opened on <br />October 21, 2015.
