Ross Street <br />11/5/15 <br />S ruance House <br />9:0 <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION ACTION <br />On November 5, 2015, the Historic Resources Commission recommended that the City Council <br />authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the attached Mills Act <br />agreements with the identified property owners for the historic structures, subject to non - <br />substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />This action allows for the approval of a Historic Property Preservation Agreement (Mills Act <br />Contract) which provides a potential property tax reduction allowing the property owner to <br />reinvest the tax savings into the maintenance of the historic property (Exhibit A). Additionally, the <br />agreement prevents inappropriate alterations to the historic structures (Exhibits B1 -B15). <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 Community Health, Livability, <br />Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #2 (expand opportunities for conservation and <br />environmental sustainability) and Objective #3 (facilitate diverse housing opportunities and <br />support efforts to preserve and improve the livability of Santa Ana neighborhoods). <br />25A -2 <br />
