In 2014, after evaluating the tile
roof of Fire Station No. 72 located at 1688 E. Fourth Street, the Facilities - Fleet - Central Stores
Manager recommended roof replacement as repair and maintenance would no longer be cost -
effective. The proposed re- roofing material is fiberglass- reinforced asphalt shingle overlaid on two
protective layers of fiberglass- reinforced synthetic rubber sheets. This roofing design provides
durable and effective insulation with superior protection against all weather conditions. The new
roof will include a 40 -year warranty for the asphalt composition shingle. Additionally, re- roofing the
facility will reduce maintenance and repair costs, eliminate future service interruptions related to
roof repairs, and address public safety needs of the community.
The notice soliciting proposals was advertised on September 09, 2015, on the City's online bid
management and publication system.
