o Councilmember Reyna expressed concern about the voter outreach portion. <br />Program should focus on mentoring and promoting graduation. <br />o Mr. Mouet explained the voter outreach is to inform youth on registration and <br />voting process. <br />o Councilmember Reyna indicated he would like the youth to facilitate the <br />voting process. <br />o Councilmember Tinajero indicated Anaheim teaches youth on how to register <br />at age 16 years. Need to promote absentee ballots since most residents <br />work. <br />o Overall the council expressed excitement over the program. <br />JOINT -USE MASTER AGREEMENT UPDATE <br />o Mr. Mouet presented the purpose of the Master Joint Use Agreement is to <br />consolidate all the existing agreements with SAUSD for use of facilities. <br />o Councilmember Reyna asked if there has been discussion on an overall <br />agreement with all the schools. <br />o Mr. Mouet explained the Civic Center Act requires the district to open school <br />sites to the public, <br />o Councilmember Reyna asked if the proposed Godinez synthetic turf included <br />the track as part of the project. Staff responded it does. <br />o Councilmember Tinajero asked about the Willowick Golf Course, <br />o City Manager Cavazos indicated we need additional open space to address <br />the needs of our growing population. The gross revenue of the golf course is <br />$600,000 and the purchase price is $6 million, <br />o Councilmember Tinajero indicated the Godinez field needs two batting cages <br />and the Segerstrom field needs an enclosed dugout. <br />« PARK DEFERRED MAINTENANCE <br />o Continued to the next meeting. <br />UPDATE ON ZOO GIANT RIVER OTTER PROJECT <br />o Kent Yamaguchi, SA Zoo Manager presented the need for a new exhibit and <br />how the existing exhibit will be modified with an underwater viewing window. <br />He indicated the zoo is looking at housing two pairs of animals to rotate in the <br />exhibit, The cost of the exhibit is $2 million and we are looking at partnering <br />with FOSAZ, OCWD, Discovery Museum and others to help fund $600,000 of <br />the exhibit. <br />« McFADDEN/STANDARD PARK LAND SWAP PROSPECT UPDATE <br />o Continued to next meeting <br />PREY Regular Meeting Page 2 April 27, 2015 <br />
