Areas with higher levels of mixed -use development
including employment, retail, and housing produce lowerVMT
than areas where one of these uses predominates. There are
several areas of the City that are predominantly residential,
with little or no employment.
The City will create an incentive program to encourage
additional employment within or adjacent to residential areas.
It is anticipated that this employment will occur through the
development of small businesses within these residential
areas such as live /work units, small professional service
offices, and other similar types of uses. Potential incentives
could include parking variances, reductions in building and
permit fees, amending zoning districts to allow neighborhood
commercial, and other related items.
75B -40
