NO. 15 -131)
(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 6, 1C)
s
C Y ANAGER,/
RECOMMENDED ACTION
CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY:
APPROVED
❑ As Recommended
❑ As Amended
❑ Ordinance on 1" Reading
❑ Ordinance on 2ntl Reading
❑ Implementing Resolution
❑ Set Public Hearing For
CONTINUED TO
FILE NUMBER
Amend the contract with Timco CNG to increase the aggregate limit by $50,000 for emergency
fueling of compressed natural gas (CNG)- powered City fleet in an annual amount not to exceed
$75,000, subject to non - substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney.
DISCUSSION
The City establishes an annual blanket order list consisting of vendors that provide supplies and
services that are required by agencies on a consistent basis. Timco CNG, who operates a
fueling station in Santa Ana, provides CNG fuel for City fleet on a backup basis. The City
currently operates a CNG fueling station at the Corporate Yard and provides CNG for contracted
street sweepers as well as some City vehicles. Recently the CNG fueling station required repairs
and was closed. As a result of the City's CNG fueling station being out of service for repairs, most
vehicles were sent to Timco CNG's Santa Ana location for fuel. As a result, the vendor has
reached the $25,000 aggregate limit. Timco CNG has provided excellent service, a convenient
fueling location, and competitive pricing. As such, staff requests approval to increase the
aggregate limit by $50,000 for Timco CNG to provide emergency fueling service through the end
of Fiscal Year 2015 -2016. The repairs made to the City's CNG fueling station have been
completed and the fueling station is currently operational.
STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT
Approval of this item allows the City to meet Goal #6 - Community Facilities & Infrastructure,
Objective #1 (Establish and maintain a Community Investment Plan for all City assets), Strategy
C (Invest resources and technology to extend the service life of existing infrastructure to protect
the City's investment and support a high quality of life standard).
22A -1
