Orange County Fire Authority <br />Management Assistant <br />4 <br />2 <br />2 <br />Wildland Fire Defense Planner <br />1 <br />1 <br />Administrative Assistant <br />2 <br />1 <br />1 <br />Office SuEEort Specialists <br />7 <br />3 <br />4 <br />Total <br />71 <br />28 <br />26 <br />8 <br />9 <br />The city benefits from all positions listed above through accomplishment of the following <br />responsibilities: <br />Planning & Development <br />Work with the development community to facilitate safe development and ensure construction <br />meets state and local fire and life safety requirements. <br />Review conceptual and community designs, including special provisions for development. <br />Review and inspect building construction and fire protection systems to ensure that the <br />California and International Fire Code requirements are met prior to occupancy. <br />Prevention Field Services <br />Assist stakeholders such as businesses, partner agency staff, first responders, environmental <br />regulatory agencies, and the general public in maintaining and enhancing safe communities. <br />Conduct fire safety inspections, issue permits for hazardous processes, respond to public <br />complaints of hazards, and provide emergency response information about hazardous materials <br />for response and planning purposes. <br />Pre -Fire Management <br />Evaluate and analyze community risks that fall under the jurisdiction of the OCFA by <br />evaluating and analyzing current and future fire and safety mitigation practices. <br />Investigations <br />Investigate or review all fires and detennine appropriate intervention strategies including <br />follow -up to identify construction system and behavioral impacts. <br />Provide the foundation for current and future fire prevention efforts. <br />Special OCFA Services and Community Involvement <br />With the combination of station, division, and fire prevention staffing, the OCFA is able to provide <br />substantial value -added services to Santa Ana. Following is a sample of community events, city <br />sponsored activities, and public education programs in which OCFA has participated within the city of <br />Santa Ana. <br />Attendance at City Council, Executive • Participation in community events such as <br />Management, Community Linkage (Com- Link), Fiestas Patrias and SOMOS <br />and Public Safety & Neighborhood ! Fire Station tours, Santa Ana Fire Museum, <br />Improvement meetings and annual Open House <br />I' <br />
