Ir 1. 19.16 <br />RESOLUTION N0, 2016-006 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND <br />THE CHIEF OF POLICE OR THEIR DESIGNEE(S) TO <br />AMEND THE CURRENT AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE <br />OF CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF <br />EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR THE FY2015 URBAN <br />AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE FUNDING PROGRAM TO <br />ACCEPT ADDITIONAL FUNDS AND APPRORPIATION <br />ADJUSTMENT <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br />A. The United States Department of Homeland Security has developed the <br />Urban Areas Security Initiative funding program (UASI). UASI provides <br />funds to local emergency first responders to purchase equipment, <br />planning, training, exercises and technical assistance to enhance security <br />and preparedness to prevent, respond to, and recover from acts of <br />terrorism. <br />B. In FY 2006 the United States Department of Homeland Security combined <br />the Anaheim and Santa Ana Urban Areas into a single Urban Area, and <br />provided for shared administrative responsibilities between Santa Ana and <br />Anaheim. In FY 2015 the City of Santa Ana is the lead administrative <br />agency for UASI funding. <br />C. The City of Santa Ana was awarded funding from the California <br />Governor's Office of Emergency Services for the fiscal year 2015 UASI in <br />the amount of $4,400,000 which it accepted by way of City Council <br />Resolution No. 2015-053 dated September 15, 2015. <br />D. The City of Santa Ana was recently notified that additional funds have <br />been awarded from the California Governor's Office of Emergency <br />Services for the fiscal year 2015 UASI in the amount of $565,000 <br />($265,000 of UASI funds and $300,000 of SHSP funds). <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and <br />directs the City Manager and the Chief of Police or their designee(s) to amend the <br />current agreement with the State of California Governor's Office of Emergency Services <br />Resolution No. 2016-006 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
