The Crime Lab services every law enforcement agency in the County, improving the lab <br />ensures the best forensic service to the public and overall public safety services. <br />PROJECT STRATEGIES <br />The equipment will be utilized to conduct casework and training for all law enforcement <br />agencies in Orange County including the District Attorney's Office, California Highway Patrol <br />and the Orange County Sheriff - Coroner, Coroner Division. The project is equipment purchase to <br />better enable and improve workspace and technology for two sections of the Orange County <br />Crime Lab. <br />PROJECT IDENTIFIERS <br />Crime Laboratory, Equipment — Forensic, System Improvements and Impaired Driving <br />BUDGET DETAIL AND NARRATIVE <br />JAG funds will be utilized to purchase: The latent print examiner workstations, 10 total, are <br />expected to cost $16,000. The laptop computer for breath alcohol operator training is expected <br />to cost $2,000; total project budget of $18, 000. Anything in excess of this amount will be <br />incurred by the County /Sheriff - Coroner Department. <br />Total: $18,000 <br />TIMELINE AND/OR PROJECT PLAN <br />Once the funds are received and made available by the County Board of Supervisors' approval <br />process, the equipment requested will be purchased. All purchases must go through the required <br />County purchasing process and may be subject to competitive public bid. The difference in the <br />cost of the project and the JAG funds, if received, will be offset with Orange County Crime <br />Laboratory Division finds.
