REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />APRIL 19, 2016 <br />TITLE <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT TO <br />IMPLEMENT THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />PARTNERSHIP TO IMPROVE COMMUNITY <br />HEALTH GRANT PROJECT <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 5, 4B) <br />CITY MANAGE <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing <br />Community Health grant allocation in the amount of <br />Fund revenue account and appropriating the sar <br />expenditure account for 2015 -2016. <br />DISCUSSION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />07 Z111TId, <br />❑ <br />As Recommended <br />❑ <br />As Amended <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ <br />Implementing Resolution <br />❑ <br />Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Orange County Partnership to Improve <br />$145,000 into the Emergency and Health <br />ie in the Emergency and Health Fund <br />In May 2015, the City Council approved an Agreement with the Community Action Partnership of <br />Orange County to implement the Orange County Partnership to Improve Community Health <br />(PICH) initiative. The PICH initiative is a program supported by a Centers for Disease Control and <br />Prevention grant with funding allocated annually for up to three years. The goal of the program is <br />to address leading risk factors for major causes of death and disability in the United States, <br />including poor nutrition and physical inactivity. <br />The requested appropriation adjustment is to recognize grant funds allocated for Year 2 of the <br />PICH initiative. Projects in Santa Ana will focus on increasing pedestrian walkability in the <br />downtown corridor through the installation of traffic calming improvements, bike racks, wayfinding <br />markers, and intersection enhancements. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item allows the City to meet Goal #5 — Community Health, Livability, <br />Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #4 — Support neighborhood vitality and liability, Strategy <br />#B — Improve neighborhood quality by locating or providing access to complementary services <br />and public facilities, including access to health food options in neighborhoods. <br />20A -1 <br />
