Mitre -Ramirez, Norma
From: Mike Tardif <mike@tardifsheetmetal.com>
Sent: Friday, April 15, 2016 11:33 AM
To: eComment
Cc: Phil Bacerra; Amezcua, Angelica; Benavides, David; Martinez, Michele; Pulido, Miguel;
Reyna, Roman; Tinajero, Sal; Sarmiento, Vicente
Subject: 31C, CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 2016-06 AND VARIANCE NO. 2016-01 - CENTRAL
BAPTIST CHURCH
Categories: Correspondence
To: Santa Ana City Council
Re. 2323 N. Grand Ave. Church — CUP & Variance Application —April 19" Agenda Item 31C
Councilmembers,
While I am not opposed to the use of this building as a church - according to the CUP and variance as applied for -
I would like to express my concern of how this building was recently utilized as a church, with many people in
attendance - by the applicant, apparently without proper permitting, CUP and/or variance.
In December of last year (2015), 1 reported to SA Community Preservation:
1. That (2) outhouses were in use on the exterior of the building
2. In the parking area they erected a large tent with a make -shift plywood floor and lighting using extension cords
They nearly filled what limited parking they have with this tent and several smaller similarly lighted canopies.
3. They held outside services in the large tent and smaller canopies in the parking area with many people in
attendance
4. More recently the plywood floor was being stored (stacked) on the exterior of the building in public view.
As long as the proposed church can meet City requirements, and they resolve to act as good community neighbors in
the future, I will not object to the use of the building as their church.
However, considering the (2) outhouses, I question whether there is adequate restroom availability for the expected
congregation attendance of 100-150 persons.
Regards,
Mike Tardif
