REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />MAY 17, 2016 <br />TITLE; <br />QUARTERLY REPORT OF CONTRACTS <br />VALUED AT $25,000 OR LESS ENTERED <br />INTO BY THE CITY MANAGER AS <br />PERMITTED BY CHARTER SECTION 421 <br />{STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 4, 1} <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1 ®tReading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2 "dReading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Receive and file the Quarterly Report of Contracts entered into between January 1, 2016 to <br />March 31, 2016 valued at $25,000 and less. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On November 7, 2006, the voters approved a Charter Amendment increasing the authority of the <br />City Manager to enter into contracts and agreements up to a value of $25,000. Section 421 of <br />the Charter requires the City Manager to report to the City Council quarterly on the contracts <br />entered into under his authority for informational purposes. The report is required to include the <br />names of contractors and the amounts of each contract. <br />Exhibit 1 is a listing of all purchase orders and agreements entered into between January 1, 2016 <br />to March 31, 2016, valued at amounts between $500 and $25,000. Unless included under a <br />blanket contract, the City as a general rule does not purchase goods or services valued at under <br />$500 through either a purchase order or an agreement. Purchase orders and service <br />agreements valued at greater than $25,000 require approval by City Council. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's effort to meet Goal #4 - City Financial Stability, Objective <br />#1 (maintain a stable, efficient and transparent financial environment). <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br />Exhibit: 1.
