PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />1. CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 2016-13 AND VARIANCE NO. 2016-03 <br />(Applicant: Raul Balderrama Banquet Facility, 1002 East Seventeenth Street, Unit M) <br />Legal notice published in the Orange County Reporter on April 29, 2016 and notices <br />mailed April 29, 2016. <br />Item continued from April 25, 2016 to May 9, 2016 by a 7:0 vote. <br />Ali Pezeshkpour, Senior Planner, noted applicant is requesting to continue item <br />indefinitely. Commissioners agreed to proceed with public hearing to hear testimony <br />from members of the public in attendance. A project overview was provided by Mr. <br />Pezeshkpour. Chairman Gartner opened the public hearing. Teresa Arellano, Joe <br />Thompson, Richard Garcia and Ricardo Garibay spoke in support of the project. <br />Abelina Velazquez, Walter Martinez, Tony Palomo, Robert Palomo, Benigno <br />Cervantes and Lorena Rodriguez spoke in opposition to the project citing impacted <br />parking, loud music and impaired guests. Raul Balderrama, applicant, answered <br />questions and spoke in support of the project. There were no other speakers on the <br />matter and the hearing was closed. Commission discussion ensued on impacts of <br />the business on the neighborhood, code enforcement efforts and police calls for <br />service. <br />MOTION: <br />1.
