REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JUNE 7, 2016 <br />TITLE: <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ <br />As Amended <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 1't Reading <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 2 "6 Reading <br />❑ <br />Implementing Resolution <br />❑ <br />Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Adopt a resolution approving the updated 2015 Urban Water Management Plan. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The City, as an urban water supplier, is required by the Urban Water Management Plan Act (Act) <br />to update and submit a plan to the California Department of Water Resources every five years. <br />City Council adopted the 2010 Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) on June 6, 2011. <br />In October 2015, the City entered into an agreement with the Municipal Water District of Orange <br />County, to prepare the updated 2015 UWMP. The City's 2015 UWMP updates and revises the <br />2010 UWMP, and includes an analysis of the following elements of the City's system: <br />• Water Demands <br />• Water Sources and Supply Reliability <br />• Demand Management Measures <br />• Water Shortage Contingency Plan <br />• Recycled Water <br />• Future Water Supply Projects and Programs <br />The final draft of the plan is complete and notices were sent to officials at the County of Orange <br />and the City of Orange in accordance with the Act. Copies of the plan (Exhibit 1) were made <br />available for review in the Clerk of the Council's office, at the Public Works Counter in City Hall <br />and on the City's website. Staff recommends the adoption of the resolution approving the final <br />draft of the City's 2015 UWMP (Exhibit 2). <br />75E -1 <br />
