REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JULY 5, 2016 <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />TITLE: APPROVED <br />CONTRACT AWARD TO COURTESY ❑ As Recommended <br />CHEVROLET CENTER FOR MID -SIZE ❑ Amended <br />TRUCKS El O Or rdinance on Reading <br />2 n <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />{STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 6,21 ❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />1 <br />&CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize a one -time purchase and payment of purchase order to Courtesy Chevrolet Center for <br />the purchase of two Colorado pickup trucks in an amount not to exceed $56,910, subject to non - <br />substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />In March 2016, the Finance and Management Services Agency, Facilities, Fleet Maintenance <br />and Central Stores Division issued a Notice Inviting Bids for the purchase of mid -sized trucks. <br />The award of a contract was approved on May 17, 2016. The Parks, Recreation and Community <br />Services Agency is requesting to use the results from this bid process to purchase two mid -sized <br />trucks for the park monitoring program. <br />The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency plans to implement a park monitoring <br />program for all our 52 park and joint -use park facilities, recreation buildings, and miles of bike trail <br />system seven -days a week. This program will allow the City to become rapidly aware of the items <br />in our facilities that need to be repaired due to wear and tear and vandalism. Additionally, this <br />program will help the City be professionally responsive to the needs of the community. This effort <br />will aid the City to become more efficient as well as enhance our ability to strengthen our <br />communication with park users. Two small truck units will be used by the part -time staff to <br />monitor our park system. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports City's efforts to meet Strategic Plan Goal #6 - Community Facilities <br />& Infrastructure, Objective #2 (address deferred maintenance on City buildings and equipment). <br />29A -1 <br />
