REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JULY 5, 2016 <br />TITLE: <br />RESOLUTION TO NOMINATE AND APPOINT <br />NEW REPRESENTATIVE TO THE ORANGE <br />COUNTY FIRE AUTHORITY (OCFA) BOARD <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 5, 1) <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />FR-10:7*72IWo, <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 18' Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2"' Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Adopt a resolution appointing Mayor Pro Tem Vicente Sarmiento as a representative to the <br />Orange County Fire Authority. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The City of Santa Ana entered into a Joint Powers Agreement with the Orange County Fire <br />Authority on February 21, 2012, to provide fire related services. The City of Santa Ana, as a <br />member of the Orange County Fire Authority Joint Powers Authority (JPA), is entitled to appoint <br />a representative director to the Board of Directors. The director must be an elected official, shall <br />serve at the pleasure of the Council, and may be removed at any time, with or without cause. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 - Community Health, Livability, <br />Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #1 (Establish a comprehensive community engagement <br />initiative to expand access to information and create opportunities for stakeholders to play an <br />active role in discussing public policy and setting priorities). <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br />� ry. <br />Maria D.
