NO. 16 -075) <br />{STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 6, 1C} <br />CITY MANAGER <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on I "Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2"AReading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />Award a contract to Orange County Striping Service, Inc., for traffic line painting and sign <br />maintenance for a one -year period beginning August 2, 2016, to August 1, 2017, in an annual <br />amount not to exceed $523,000, with provision for four one -year renewals exercisable by the City <br />Manager, subject to nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager and the City <br />Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency's Roadway Marking and Signs Section maintains approximately 400 <br />miles of streets within the City of Santa Ana. In order to maintain a high quality of safe streets, <br />contract services are required for the installation and removal of traffic striping, pavement <br />markings, curb markings, and raised pavement markers, as well as the installation, removal and <br />relocation of City traffic signs. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on May 31, 2016, on the City's online bid management <br />and publication system. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as follows: <br />35 Vendors notified <br />3 Bids received <br />0 Bids received from Santa Ana vendors <br />Bids were received and opened on June 23, 2016, and evaluated (Exhibit 1). The bid received <br />from Orange County Striping Service, Inc., is responsive to the contract specifications, meets the <br />City's requirements for maximum quality service at minimum price, and complies with prevailing <br />wage requirements. The annual amount is based on staff's projection for the next contract year. <br />22B -1 <br />
