FOR HEWLETT PACKARD <br />STORAGE ARRAY EQUIPMENT <br />(SPEC 16 -085) <br />{STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 1, 2A} <br />CITY MANAGE <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />a'-:• D, <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1st Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize a one -time purchase and payment of purchase order to Vology, Inc. for the purchase of <br />Hewlett Packard storage array equipment in the amount of $146,065, subject to non - substantive <br />changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Santa Ana Police Department is in the process of implementing a new integrated Computer <br />Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Records Management System (RMS). This system will replace a <br />number of outdated, disparate systems. It will also give the Police Department new capabilities <br />that will increase effectiveness and efficiency. The new CAD /RMS will run on 23 virtual servers, <br />including separate production and training environments. The proposed Hewlett Packard Storage <br />Array will provide the infrastructure to fully build these virtual servers. Additionally, as older <br />systems are retired and replaced, the new CAD /RMS will become the storehouse for a large <br />amount of law enforcement data including videos, audio recordings, photographs, and scanned <br />documents. The proposed storage array will supply the Police Department with the data storage <br />capacity it needs to fully take advantage of the CAD /RMS's features. Finally, the storage array <br />will add to the Police Department's computer infrastructure and enable foreseeable needs to be <br />met <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on July 5, 2016 and offers were solicited. A summary of <br />the bids and offers received is as follows: <br />143 Vendors were notified <br />22 Vendors downloaded the bid <br />0 Bids received from a Santa Ana vendor <br />2 Bids received <br />Bids were opened on July 19, 2016, and evaluated. The bid received from Vology, Inc. is <br />responsive to the specifications and meets the City's requirements. <br />2201-1 <br />
