REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />AUGUST 2, 2016 <br />TITLE: <br />AMEND AGREEMENT WITH G4S SECURE <br />SOLUTIONS, INC., FOR SECURITY GUARD <br />SERVICES <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 1, 1C) <br />CITY MAI AGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1°t Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2 "B Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement <br />with G4S Secure Solutions (USA) Inc. to augment services at the Main Library and Newhope <br />Library, and to add new services at the Santa Ana Police Department for the term beginning <br />August 1, 2016, through May 31, 2017, in an additional amount of $221,753.92, for a total <br />amended agreement amount not to exceed $840,570.92, subject to nonsubstantive changes <br />approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On May 2, 2011, City Council approved an agreement with G4S Secure Solutions (USA) Inc. <br />(G4S) to provide security guard services at various City facilities. The agreement is currently in <br />its final renewal option period, which is set to expire May 31, 2017. In the next few months, staff <br />will be releasing a Request for Proposals for security guard services that will supersede this <br />agreement. However, at this time, it has been determined there is an immediate need for <br />additional security guard services at the Main and Newhope libraries, and for new services to be <br />provided at the Santa Ana Police Department. <br />The existing contract for security services at the Main Library provides for one security guard <br />when the library is open, Monday through Sunday, for a total of 64 hours per week. Additionally, <br />there is a second security guard that provides 20 hours of service each week on a specified <br />schedule. The City is seeking to expand the scope of service at the Main Library in order to have <br />four security guards on site at all times during library business hours, with two guards patrolling <br />inside and two guards patrolling outside of the library. This will increase the hours of service at <br />the Main Library from 84 to 256 hours per week. <br />25D -1 <br />
