RESOLUTION NO. 2016 -064 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA REQUESTING THE BOARD OF <br />SUPERVISORS OF ORANGE COUNTY TO <br />CONSOLIDATE THE 2016 GENERAL MUNICIPAL <br />ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ON <br />NOVEMBER 8, 2016 WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL <br />ELECTION FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS <br />AND ALL OTHER MEASURES AS PROPOSED OR <br />AUTHORIZED BY THE CITY COUNCIL <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br />A. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana, on June 21, 2016, called a 2016 <br />General Municipal Election to be held on November 8, 2016, for the <br />purpose of electing the Mayor and Councilmembers from Wards 1, 3 and <br />5. <br />B. On July 5, 2016, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2016 -059 <br />submitting to the voters the question relating to a proposed amendment <br />on council compensation reform. <br />C. There will be a statewide general election held on November 8, 2016. <br />D. It is desirable that said general election of the City of Santa Ana be <br />consolidated with the statewide general election to be held on the same <br />date and; that within the City of Santa Ana, the precincts, polling places <br />and election of officers and proposed charter amendment be the same, <br />and that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange canvass the <br />returns of both elections, in all respects as if there were only one election. <br />Section 2. That pursuant to the requirements of Section 10403 of the Elections <br />Code of the State of California, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is <br />hereby requested to consent to and order the consolidation of the November 8, 2016 <br />General Municipal Election of the City of Santa Ana for the purpose of electing the <br />Mayor and Councilmembers from City Wards 1, 3, and 5 and proposed Charter <br />Amendment with the statewide general election to be held on the same date.
