City of Santa Ana CDBG Scope of Work <br />Program Year 2016 -17 (July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2017) <br />Name of Organization Kid Works Community Development Corporation (KWS) <br />Name of Funded Program Cedar Evergreen (CE) Community Center <br />Annual Accomplishment Goal <br />Unduplicated Participants antici ated to be served during the 12 -month contract period. <br />150 TOTAL 150 Santa Ana Participants 100%I I 150 Low Income Participants 100% <br />The Cedar Evergreen Community Center will serve 50 children, youth, along with 25 of their parents through the <br />KidWorks "University Starts Now" after - school program. A broader impact is involving 75 neighborhood <br />residents in community events aimed at improving the overall quality of life in Cedar Evergreen. <br />A. Description of services <br />1) Children and youth will develop their academic skills through homework help, tutoring, and <br />STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) lessons. <br />2) Children and youth with their parents will improve their knowledge and awareness of post- <br />secondary education, through age- appropriate lessons, college campus tours, college and financial <br />aid application assistance, college fairs, and career exploration workshops. <br />3) Children and youth will grow socially and emotionally through character - building lessons, <br />mentoring relationships, community service projects, and leadership development training. <br />4) Youth and parents will be engaged in community revitalization efforts and community building <br />events including forums, resource fairs, and/or beautification activities. <br />B. Frequency of service delivery <br />1) University Starts Now After- School Program: Enrolled youth participants receive academic <br />support and enrichment during 1.5 hour tutoring session Monday - Thursday from 3pm to 7pm for <br />36 weeks (September - June). Additional activities will be offered on Fridays periodically. Parent <br />meetings will take place on a bimonthly basis. <br />2) Community events: At least 2 one day events will take place (forum, fair, beautification day) in <br />Quarters 2 -4. Residents will be involved in the planning and preparation for these events. <br />C. How the service is provided <br />1) University Starts Now program activities are provided in classroom settings and small groups. <br />2) Community events will take place with large groups. nearby school, or church. A resource fair <br />will take place in a similar setting as the community forum. A beautification day will occur out in <br />the neighborhood on Cedar and Evergreen streets. <br />D.
