REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />AUGUST 16, 2016 <br />TITLE; <br />FIRST AMENDMENT FOR AGREEMENT <br />WITH OCCU-MED, LTD. <br />{STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 7, SE} <br />CITY MANAGE <br />A® W9® IARI9MIlill ®IIm11011pP11MM#�illl�l <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />.w700• <br />® As Recommended <br />® As Amended <br />® Ordinance on 1'I Reading <br />® Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />C7 Implementing Resolution <br />C� Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute a first amendment with Occu -Med, <br />Ltd .'s existing three year agreement, July 1, 2015 - June 30, 2018, whom provides comprehensive <br />medical services to City employees and pre - employment assessments for prospective employees, <br />to increase the annual amount by $25,000 with a new not to exceed annual amount of $100,000 <br />and a new not to exceed amount of $300,000 for the remainder of the term, subject to non - <br />substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />As a result of an increase in recruitments, the City has utilized Occu -Med, Ltd. (A- 2015 -087) more <br />often than it initially anticipated, which has accrued additional costs than allotted in the current <br />agreement. Due to the higher number of pre - employment assessments required, staff is <br />recommending an increase of $25,000 bringing the new annual total amount to $100,000. The <br />current agreement has a term of July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2018 with a not to exceed annual <br />amount of $75,000 and not to exceed amount of $250,000 over the three year term. Upon approval <br />the new not to exceed amount for the life of the term would be $300,000. <br />Approval of this recommended action will continue to allow the City's Personnel Services Department <br />to conduct the medical examinations required which, in addition to pre - employment assessments, <br />include post- exposure medical examinations and screenings, fitness for duty examinations, and other <br />related services as indicated in the Agreement. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #7 - Team Santa Ana, Objective #5 <br />(Create a culture of innovation and efficiency within the organization), Strategy E (Identify best <br />25E -1 <br />
