Santa Ana Arts Future <br />Engagement Findings Report <br />Introduction <br />The Community Engagement Process <br />The Santa Ana public engagement process officially launched on January 27, 2016 with <br />the Santa Ana Arts Future Town Hall and continued through April 1, 2016 with the close of <br />the community survey. A mixed -method research effort using both qualitative and <br />quantitative methodologies was employed. Public engagement activities included: <br />• A town hall and community open house events <br />• Stakeholder discussion groups and interviews <br />• A community survey <br />• Stakeholder -led discussion groups and meetings <br />• A review of existing research and planning initiatives <br />Additional efforts were made to ensure a wide range of responses. Efforts included specific <br />Spanish language meetings as well as open houses with translation. All information and <br />survey materials were translated into multiple languages. The following core questions were <br />asked: <br />• What do you value about Santa Ana's arts and cultural life? <br />• What is your vision for Santa Ana's future? <br />• What do we need to get there? <br />Methodology Overview <br />The triangulation approach to the community engagement process ensured authentic and <br />deliberate engagement with a broad cross section of Santa Ana community members and <br />stakeholders. The goals were to: <br />• Bring together multiple points of view to inform the planning process <br />• Create legitimacy and a sense of shared responsibility for the cultural plan <br />• Identify creative assets within communities <br />• Cultivate new partners/allies and collaborations <br />• Stimulate broad awareness and momentum for Santa Ana Arts and Cultural Plan <br />The approach provided multiple entry points for all residents, communities, and sectors of <br />Santa Ana to participate through community-based conversations, meetings, and <br />interviews facilitated by the consultants, a town hall, and a community survey.
