We need more police officers, as I have said at every budget meeting since my <br /> arrival. I want to thank all of you for approving the 45 new police officer positions over the last three <br /> years. We are on pace to hire 50 police officers this year. <br /> When we evaluate the crime statistics over the last 30 years, there has been a 74% reduction in the FBI <br /> Crime Index, and a 70% reduction in homicides since 1990. <br /> Please take a few minutes to review and let me know if you have any questions. <br /> Cc: EMT <br /> 1 <br />
