REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL- ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />SEPTEMBER 20, 2016 <br />TITLE: <br />AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT WITH <br />SANTA ANA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />FOR LEASE OF REAL PROPERTY AT <br />595 EAST 14TH STREET <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NOS, 2, 1 & 6, 1C) <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 16� Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute a first amendment to an <br />agreement with the Santa Ana Unified School District to extend the existing lease of real property <br />located at 595 East 14th Street for the seven -month period beginning September 20, 2016, <br />through April 19, 2017, with provision for an additional renewal, exercisable by the City Manager <br />and City Attorney, subject to nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager and City <br />Attorney. <br />On September 19, 1917, the Santa Ana Unified School District ( SAUSD) and the City entered <br />into a lease agreement, for City's use of real property located at 595 East 14th Street for well <br />purposes and for the placement of a water tank. The term of the lease is for a period of ninety - <br />nine years and is set to expire September 19, 2016. The City and the SAUSD are currently in <br />negotiation regarding the City's continued use of this property. To facilitate this negotiation, the <br />SAUSD has agreed to extend the existing lease for an additional term. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #2 - Youth, Education, Recreation, <br />Objective #1 (ensure coordination among organizations serving Santa Ana's youth to optimize <br />programs); and, Goal #6 - Community Facilities & Infrastructure, Objective #1 (establish and <br />maintain a Community Investment Plan for all City assets), Strategy C (invest resources and <br />technology to extend the service life of existing infrastructure to protect the City's investment and <br />support a high quality of life standard). <br />2513-1 <br />
